How to join NSWRA

NSWRA is a Prefecture of the Tripoli Rocketry Association – an international rocketry organisation based in the USA. TRA provides clubs and their members with support and insurance coverage for rocketry activities. By working to their safety standards, we have accreditation with NSW Safework, CASA along with local Police, Councils and RFDS

Joining NSWRA is a two step process:

As members gain more experience they can fly rockets with bigger motors by completing a Medium Power Rocketry (MPR) Assessment and then High Power Rocketry (HPR) Certifications.

There are 4 levels of Assessment/Certification:

  • MPR Assessment (NSWRA)
  • Level 1 HPR Certification (Tripoli)
  • Level 2 HPR Certification (Tripoli)
  • Level 3 HPR Certification (Tripoli)

For further details about MPR Assessments and HPR Certifications please read our  Certifications page.

Sponsored flying – Guests

If you have a low-power rocket and would like to fly it before considering joining, we can provide a one-day sponsored launch arrangement. One of our members will supervise and act as the responsible party for the preparation and launch of your rocket. You may have this rocket launched up to 3 times. There is a nominal cost of $10/day for this privilege.

Spectators

There is no charge if you just want to come along and watch a launch. You will need to follow the instructions given by site officials. Spectators maybe asked to provide identification and contact details.
