NSWRA Competition Day -  2021

Altitude-Duration Competition

Date: Saturday 26th June 2021
Location: Whalan Reserve
Aim: Fly as close as possible to the target altitude of 350ft and stay in the air as long as possible.
Rules:
  • Altitudes achieved will be measured using one of the club's “AltimeterOne” altimeters or you can bring your own. You must show it is cleared prior to flight.
  • 1 point is scored for every second of flight duration, with 1 point being deducted for every foot away from the target altitude.
  • The winner will be the rocket with the highest (or least negative) score.
  • Time stops when any part of the rocket touches the ground.
  • The fine print: The judges’ decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.

The club has several “AltimeterOne” units that can be borrowed on the day. In order for these units to sense the change in barometric pressure, one or more small holes (approx. 1.5mm diameter) should be drilled in the airframe of the rocket, just below the shoulder of the nosecone.

Prizes: The winners will get first choice of one of the fantastic prizes on offer.

Notes

  • Members can obtain their altimeters from the LCO table.
